Hungry? Awesome! You have either made your first meal or bought a meal and are ready to eat!

As you are cooking your recipe, you will receive a serving platter (and serving bowls when needed for meal sides) as each part completes. The meal itself will go directly to your assets. You will use the serving platter to serve your meal. In serving the meal, it will be removed from your assets. You can mix food grades when it comes to foods and their sides. It will all come out of your assets just the same.

Warnings & Errors

Before you get started eating, make sure you read these warnings and take heed so you don't lose servings of food!

WARNING

  • You must ALWAYS serve your main dish FIRST.
  • The new platters will take the serving as soon as you hit serve so do NOT keep clicking "serve". Wait for it to appear on your plate.
  • Do NOT stand up after you've begun serving or eating. You will permanently lose that food use.

ERRORS

Serving Error

From time to time, you will take a little too long to click your place setting after you hit serve on a dish and receive the following message:

beYou Single Personal Placemat whispers: This placemat registered to [Your Username here] did not serve properly and did not take a use. Please serve again a little slower or check to see if the right placemat version is being used.

Even though this message says to go slower, click your plate faster.

Setting Up Error

On occasion, your place setting when you choose it will get stuck and you'll see the words 'Setting Up' hovering over your plate. If this happens, simply stand up and move to a different seat, then try again.

Stuck Dishes

If you notice that one of your sides is stuck with a message on the top of it, you may need to re-rez it. If that doesn't work, and you haven't served anything to your plate yet, stand and grab a new platter from your fridge.

Now let's eat!

Serving Food and Eating

Depending on the type of meal you are serving, you may get a full dinner (a dinner that comes with a full set of pre-determined sides) or you will serve family-style meals (where the main dish and side dishes are prepared separately; all of which will begin with 'FS' indicating they're family style meal components).

Plated Meals

Serving Yourself - Dining Room Table

Upon sitting at the dining room table, you will need to rezz a place setting in order to eat. To eat your food:

  1. Click the seat you're sitting in (back of the seat is fine).
  2. Choose 'rez menu'.
  3. Choose 'adult' or 'child'.
  4. Choose 'Setting'.

Your place setting will rezz and you can begin to serve your food. After you serve your food, you can either add condiments or click your fork or spoon to eat.

Reminder: you can not add condiments after you've already clicked your knife or fork.

Serving Yourself - Kitchen Island

  1. Sit on the dining table so that your plate rezzes in front of you. If you are using a personal placemat, please follow the instructions listed above under ‘personal placemat’.
  2. Click on the main dish and select serve.
  3. Click the plate in front of you and give it a few seconds to appear on your plate.
  4. Click each side and select serve, then choose 'myself'. The side will appear on your plate.
  5. Click the fork or spoon and you will begin to eat.

Once you have finished eating, your place setting will reset and you can serve yourself again should you need more food.

Serving Yourself - Personal Placemat

To use a personal placemat:

  1. Click the fabric part of the placemat.
  2. On the menu select register.
  3. Click your platter (food) and select serve if you have already loaded uses.
  4. Click your plate to serve.
  5. Click your fork or spoon.
  6. If you wish to have an additional serving of food, repeat step 2 before serving your food.

NOTE: Because personal placemats were created to be used in conjunction with your non-beYou dining room furniture, the placemats do not contain animations when clicking on your utensils to eat. You will still receive stats for the meal as it is the food that gives you stats, not the animation itself.

Serving Others

In order for your guests to eat, they will need access to your meal. If you haven't granted access, and someone clicks your food, they will receive a message stating they're unable to serve this meal.

Granting Access

  1. Click your platter.
  2. Choose access or security (depending on which option is available).
  3. Choose from the following options: all, owner, group, +/-whitelist (if available). IMPORTANT: If you choose group, every person including yourself that is eating must be in that group and have their group tag activated in order to serve themselves.

Once access is set, each person will serve themselves as instructed in the above 'Serving Yourself' section in order to eat.

If you would like to serve everyone at your table from main dish all the way through, you will need a food serving license and the Restaurant Serving System. NOTE: This system will not allow you to serve yourself at the table. You will need to put down a personal placemat for yourself.

Using Condiments

The condiments feature was recently added to all dining room tables back in June of 2021 to help increase stats while eating. In order for you to use condiments while eating, the owner of the dining room table must activate the feature prior to people sitting and eating. In addition, the owner of the table must have those condiments available in their assets as it will remove them as they're used. For more information regarding the condiments feature, please visit the dining room page.

VERY VERY SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT: You MUST add your condiments BEFORE you click your utensils or food to eat.

How to eat with condiments:

  1. Serve your food.
  2. Click your seat.
  3. Choose Rez Menu.
  4. Choose Condiments.
  5. Click which condiments you'd like to add. They will rezz in your hand for you to shake or pour onto your food. *NOTE: They will not physically show on your food but you will hear a chime once they've been added.
  6. Once finished choosing condiments, click your fork/spoon or food item to begin eating.

While they do grant a very slight boost in stats on top of the food you consume, condiments are completely optional and will require that the dining room table owner has both activated the feature and has those condiments in their assets.

Utensil Loss

In the event you need to re-rezz your utensils, click your seat (or the fabric of your personal placemat) and choose utensils to have them re-rezz while eating.

Types of Food

There are two types of food you can eat: plated meals or hand-held food items.

Plated Meals

Most food created in beYou will result in plated meals. This means you will need to either eat at a table or use a personal placemat to consume your food. Some plated meals, once served, will cause your utensils to vanish (like pizza or burgers served with sides or grilled foods). There are two types of plated meals: Full Meals & Family Style Meals.

IMPORTANT: When eating, you must serve your main dish first...ALWAYS. You can not eat any sides without a main dish, unless it's a handheld item.

Full Meals

If your recipe doesn't say it is a Family Style (or a recipe/meal or side preceded by 'FS'), then it is a full meal. This means that your main course and any sides will all be created using one recipe and each part will deliver a serving platter (or serving bowl) when finished.

For example, the Basic Baked Lasagna & Meatballs is a full meal that includes 4 items to rezz: Baked Lasagna (the main course), Meatballs, Garlic Bread & a Parmesan Bowl. All ingredients for this meal will be included in one recipe and all parts of this meal will be the product of this one recipe. When you finish cooking the meal, all parts will load to your assets automatically and you will receive the serving platter inworld. The other items act as a visual rp & condiments to click to add to the meal which will rezz onto your plate. Once you serve all servings, only the main dish will disappear. You will have to manually delete the rest.

Family Style Meals

Family style meals are different from full meals in that they act more like how a potluck would work: each part is created with a separate recipe. Family style meals were designed so that either you or multiple people can contribute to the meal and come together with your recipes to serve and eat together as a group. Each part of the meal is a separate recipe and after each part is cooked, it will need to be loaded into your assets.

Family style main recipes can only be eaten with family style side meals. All family style recipes will have the prefix 'FS'. Because these are all separate food items, you can mix and match them.

When eating a family style meal, you MUST have a main dish as well. Your FS sides will not work without a main dish. The key to maximizing the benefit of your FS meals is to fill your plate. A FS main can be accompanied by up to 4 FS sides on the plate. The fuller the plate, the higher your wellness stats will increase.

Breakfast Mains & Sides

REMINDER: You will always serve your main dish first.

Breakfast is constructed the same way family style meals are (as far as how we cook them). Breakfast Sides go with Breakfast Mains only.

Unlike family-style meals, you have to pay attention to the names on the sides as each side has a designated place on the plate (side1, side2, side3, or side4). If you try to serve two breakfast side1's at the same time, you will lose one of the uses as it will overwrite each other.

You can't have two of the same side numbers on the same plate at the same time.

Example: If a breakfast side has the same number as another breakfast side you want to eat, then you will have to pick which one you want on your plate. So for example if you have Breakfast Side3 Country Fried Steak & Breakfast Side3 Fried Sausage Links, you will have to choose one or the other to put on your plate with your main. Otherwise one will override the other and you lose a use on both items once served. Both sides go to position 3 (as indicated by the name of the breakfast side dish) so they can't be there together.

Standalone breakfast meals (like grits, or handheld sides) will not work with breakfast sides. Those work like the full-blown dinner meals vs the family-style meals.

Handheld Food Items

There are various types of handheld foods: harvested crops, snacks, handheld sides, and hybrid meals (for example: tacos, pizzas, sammiches, fruit skewers, etc.).

Harvested Crops

Aside from berries (all but strawberry), you can eat any of your harvested crops (fruits & veggies). To do this:

  1. Rez your harvest vendor and purchase a select number (not all) from your harvest in order to convert your harvested crops to edible/cookable uses. Once you've converted your harvest, proceed to step 2.
  2. Sit on the refrigerator. Click it.
  3. Choose fruit or vege.
  4. Select the fruit or vegetable you would like to eat and it will send a single serving of that item to you to keep in your inventory or eat right way. Click 'accept' and it will remain in your inventory for immediate or later consumption.
  5. To eat, right click and attach from your inventory. When the food is finished, it will automatically detach from your hand. You will need to manually delete the used food from your inventory. In the event you don't and try to eat it again, it will tell you that all uses are gone and auto-detach.

Handheld Mains & Sides

Handheld main & side dishes must be in your assets before you can eat them. After you click serve from the serving platter and choose yourself, the handheld side item will be sent directly to you and you will then attach the food item in order to eat it. Once finished, it will automatically detach from your hand, but you will need to manually delete the used item from your inventory when finished.

Handheld main dishes include: pizza, fruit skewers, tacos & sammiches. Tacos and sammiches can also be served to plate if you'd like to eat a side with either choice.

Handheld side dishes include: Hot Lacy Hoecakes, Sweet Butter Corn Cobs, Buttered Basic Corn Bread, Baked Buttermilk Bisquits & Buttered Dinner Rolls.

Burgers/Sammiches

With burgers & sammiches (when they become available), you have the option of either serving to plate or to hand. Serving to hand will deliver the sammich to you. You will not be able to eat a side with your burger if you choose this option. Full instructions on how to eat burgers and sammiches are covered in a separate section of this page (see below).

Tacos

Tacos now have the option to be served either on the plate or in your hand. If you serve them on the plate, you will be able to pick & choose which fillings you want included with your taco. In addition, you'll be able to eat them with Family Style Sides. When you serve them to your hand, they will be fully loaded and can't be eaten with sides.

Pizza

Currently we only have one pizza available. However, when you serve this pizza, it will send you a slice of pizza to eat.

Bagels

Bagels are now only able to be eaten by hand. They will come fully assembled with their sides.

Snack Foods

There is a small array of snack foods currently available. They do help with stats, even if minimally and are great for being on the go.

Snack foods include: granola bars, toasty tarts, fruit skewers, chocolate-covered marshmallows and potato chips.

Ways to Eat

There are two main ways to eat your food: beYou tables or the beYou personal placemat.

NOTE: The color/theme change huds for placemats will work on both the personal placemats and all built-in placemats for beYou furniture.

beYou Tables

beYou tables come in a few varieties:

  • Kitchen islands - every kitchen for beYou comes with a type of kitchen island that includes seating and built-in placemats. Unless it includes the stove, rezzing out a kitchen island is completely optional. Once you sit at the kitchen island, your place setting will rez and you can proceed to begin eating.
  • Dining room tables - All dining room tables can accommodate eating your beYou food. You only need to rez out the table and click your chair to begin setting up your place setting. *
  • Patio tables - just like the dining room tables, patio tables are equipped with place settings so that you may enjoy your food outside. Simply sit and your place settings will rez.

*IMPORTANT: beYou Dining Room tables will now require you to click your chair in order to rezz placemats in order to eat. Visit the dining room page for more information.

Personal Placemats

Personal placemats are offered as an option to allow for you to use your furniture to eat (or to rez anywhere to eat). Personal placemats are copiable so that your guests may also use them and come with incredibly specific instructions on how to use.

Using Personal Placemat

  1. Rezz the placemat.
  2. Click the placemat.
  3. Choose Register.
  4. Serve your food like you would using the dining room table or kitchen islands.

It is advised to not use the personal placemat with your beYou dining furniture as beYou dining furniture already has placemats built into it.

Eating Burgers & Sammiches

Burgers & Sammiches have arrived in beYou and can be eaten either as a handheld, standalone sammich or on a plate with specific sides or chips.

Always remember to serve your Sammich Main Plated Meals before you serve any sides.

When serving sammiches to the plate with sides, be sure to click your chair and choose rezz menu, then utensils in order to get the utensils needed to eat your sides.

Potato Chips

Potato chips can be eaten by themselves or when served to the plate as a side for burgers and sammiches.

When you buy these Chips and load the uses, you will get a Table Basket of the chips. The Table Basket has two options:

  • Serve - serves a side dish of chips to your plate with your sammich.
  • Serve Single - delivers you a wearable bag to eat a serving from. If you click the bag while wearing it, it will add a chip to your other hand.

The following potato chips are currently available:

  • Potato Chips
  • BBQ Potato Chips
  • Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips
  • Tortilla Chips
  • Ranch Tortilla Chips
  • Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips

Sammich Sides

We currently have 4 Sammich Side Recipes that can only be eaten with sammiches when served to the plate. These serve like the FS Side dishes and when served to a plate add a Stat boost to the plated meal.

  • French Fries
  • Sweet Potato Fries
  • Zucchini Fries
  • Tater Tots

In addition, you can have one FS side dish with these sides when served on the plate.

Burger/Sammich Q&A

  2. If you wish to walk around while eating your burger, click single serve. Serving to plate, even without sides will require you to remain seated while eating.
  3. Do NOT stand up after you've begun serving or eating. You will use the food use and won't be able to get it back.
